#1 If your unit comes boxed you will have a template drawn on one side of the box. Cut this section out. This template can be taken to your local rock or block dealer and you can fit your material perfectly to the outside dimensions of the BBQ. If your unit did not come boxed, set the tank on a piece of cardboard and trace around the bottom outside edge, including the angles of the front lips, for your template.

#2 Completely disassemble unit, removing the grills and other accessories. Two people can easily pick up the main unit by the top lip, or one person can very simply step inside the unit and grab under the top lip on both sides and balance the weight.
CAUTION- Walk slowly with your new metal skirt.

#3 If you are not sure of the exact location for your BBQ, just move it around until you get happy. You can burn a test fire in this unit before installing your material around it.

#4 When you find the perfect spot, finish the BBQ with your material of choice to blend in with your landscape, or finish your landscape to compliment your BBQ, or just install the bottomless pit and let everything else fall into place. The only rule is to locate your bottomless pit in a safe area. Yes, it is true, the bottomless pit has no bottom. Go figure.
CAUTION- do not set the bottomless pit on or near any combustible material. This includes wood decks. !!!!!

#5 Level an area 3’ x 4’. If the ground is unfriendly, add some sand. You can also use firebrick or other suitable material to set your base.

#6 The bottomless pit has no bottom or lip around the base. This enables you to unlimited height  adjustment. For example, your block or rock can be dug into the ground to enable you to fit any size material under the top lip of the tank perfectly. You can also raise your tank height with your material. The top lip is designed to hold the weight of the tank when it is supported evenly around the unit.

#7 There is a 2” lip on the top and front sides of the tank, which provides a finished edge for every type of cover material.

#8 Any safe, non-combustible material, such as rock, brick, stone, concrete block, or concrete may be used as a cover material.

#9 When using Manorstone® or comparable material, there will be a 1” air space between the cover material and the tank. This enables you to remove the tank at any time to clean or to move to another location.

#10 If you are planning to install your cover material permanently with the use of mortar or concrete or glue or whatever, try to maintain a 1” air space between tank and material.

#11 Grill is hinged for removal or cleaning purposes only. Do Not lift grill while hot!  If you have purchased the accessory charcoal grill and swing arm, the safety clip helps hold the grill for cleaning only.  Do Not leave the grill in the upright position at any time.

#12 To clean the stainless grill use a stainless or brass wire brush only.  Scotch Bright pad or light sand paper can be used to clean emblem and tank, if needed.  Touch up any worn or scratched areas with BBQ black high heat paint, available at your local hardware store.

#13 Do not let ash build up against tank bottom.  Wood ash can be very acidic, especially when wet.

#14 If you burn very hot fires, it is recommended to remove tank from your cover material once or twice a year to sand and repaint any burnt paint spots. This is very easy to do if you left an air space between tank and material.
